About Us

EduTech Toys and Hobbies is the “trading as” arm of Tool & Professional Services (TOPS). TOPS commenced business during 1986 with the view to servicing the numerous customers who owned and used Rockwell woodworking and metalworking machines. TOPS rapidly built up a substantial stockholding of spares, accessories and new machinery, as well as a reputation for excellence.

It soon became evident that there were numerous other hobby and DIY fields where customer needs were not being satisfied. TOPS’ activities were thus expanded over time, always bearing market trends and existing customers’ needs in mind.

TOPS currently imports and wholesales quality educational toys, tools, machinery, plastic and wooden kits and accessories, mostly from Europe, the USA and China. Collectables such as diecast cars,and road bikes as well as agricultural items are imported from all over including Hong Kong/China and France. Sales are achieved via selected, country-wide retail agents who are in a position to render excellent service to their clients.

Agents include hobby, gift, art and craft shops, hardware stores and electronics dealers. TOPS’ customers are called on by its own sales representatives, covering all the major areas in all the provinces. End-customer awareness is improved by means of exhibits at the major South African trade as well as hobbyist and collector shows

This list is not exhaustive, but indicates discerning end-users in, inter alia, the hobby, DIY, electronics, woodcarving, woodworking, tool & die making and jewellery fields. All products are backed by outstanding technical advice, local spares holding and repair facilities. It is evident that our’ products find wide applications in, especially, toy and hobby shops. It is therefore not surprising that we count all major hobby and related stores among our customers. It is also TOPS’ policy to add new, unique lines to its product portfolio, complementing existing products and customers. TOPS owns the office/showroom/warehouse complex it occupies. This complex is situated some 25 minutes west from the Johannesburg CBD and close to a number of main highways. Total available space is around 1 300m² with ample parking for staff and visitors.
